Candidate for
Minnesota House of Representatives
District 43A
Lyna Nyamwaya is a longtime New Hope resident, registered nurse, educator, and community leader running for the Minnesota House of Representatives in District 43A, which includes New Hope and Crystal. She is seeking the DFL endorsement and is committed to building a stronger, more equitable future for all Minnesotans.
Born and raised in Kenya, Lyna came to the United States in pursuit of educational opportunity. After settling in Rockford, Illinois, she and her husband moved to New Hope in 2002, where they’ve built their home and are raising two school-age children. For over two decades, Lyna has served her community as a healthcare professional, educator, and small business owner.
Lyna holds nursing degrees from North Hennepin Community College and Metropolitan State University, and a Doctor of Education in Leadership from Spalding University. She spent 15 years at North Memorial Hospital and currently serves as an adjunct professor at St. Catherine University. She is also the founder of Bold Impact Group, LLC, a leadership and development firm committed to empowering professionals and building stronger communities.
An accomplished public speaker and advocate, Lyna has been featured at Chambers of Commerce, Rotary Clubs, commencements, healthcare forums, and academic conferences. Her work has earned recognition both nationally and internationally for leadership, business excellence, and community impact. She has organized conferences, mentored emerging leaders, and brought together diverse voices to advance equity and opportunity.
Deeply rooted in her New Hope community, Lyna is a familiar and trusted presence—consistently showing up for neighbors, local schools, and community events. Her legislative priorities reflect the needs and hopes of the people she seeks to serve: expanding access to affordable healthcare, promoting safe and inclusive communities, supporting livable wages and strong unions, ensuring educational excellence and workforce readiness in an AI-driven economy, strengthening local businesses, and protecting our environment.
Lyna believes that when leaders listen and work for the people, communities thrive. She is proud to have the support of Senator Ann Rest and State Representative Cedrick Frazier, and is ready to bring compassionate, results-driven leadership to the State Capitol.
“I hope to earn your support and your vote to become your next State Representative.”
